The Sacramento Valley Chapter holds Friday Walks and Outings to collect seeds, identify plants and their natural habitats, exercise, find community, take photographs, and have fun! CLICK HERE to go to currently scheduled walks. Each walk will be lead by a chapter member familiar with the area and will provide information about the plants we find. Seeds are collected, as needed, by permit during our walks for the chapter’s SacValley CNPS Plant Nursery. These seeds become some of our “local natives” sold at the chapter plant sales.
Where and When
Our destination changes depending who is leading and our native plant nursery needs. All walks take place within a short drive of the Sacramento area. The walks are approximately 3 hours. Upcoming walks are listed in the calendar.
These outings will not be held the weekends of the on-line Native Plant Sales, the annual Gardens Got Natives Tour, or major holidays unless listed.
What to Bring
When joining a walk, be sure to wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water, snacks, a hat, and layered protection. A walking stick might also be helpful.
Walks are held unless there is heavy rain or an unanticipated event. Cancellation notices will be posted as soon as possible.

Liability Waiver
Please sign a liability waiver in person at the beginning of each outing. Signing a liability waiver is required statewide by the California Native Plant Society.
