Sacramento’s Open Space Checkup –
The Sacramento Region is far behind the rest of the state when it comes to protecting our open space and critical habitats. Come learn about where we are and how our Power in Nature coalition is planning to remedy that!
Speaker Bio

Steve Schweigerdt has been working in conservation in Northern California for 20 years and has a diverse background including PG&E watershed land conservation with the Stewardship Council, urban parks for San Francisco Parks Alliance, trails and greenways with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, restoration with Sacramento Tree Foundation, and acquisition and development work with private infill developer LJ Urban. He is excited to help preserve land around Sacramento with Sacramento Valley Conservancy and is leading an effort to make Sacramento a National Park City. Steve likes juggling many projects and shepherding them along to completion.
Steve grew up camping and hiking in the Sierra Nevada and loves to explore off the beaten path in the less popular wilderness areas. He earned a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and is certified as a Project Management Professional. Outside of work Steve loves to mountain bike, ski, kayak, play tennis, and try new things!
