Fairy Falls in Nevada County
Friday, April 10th, 9:00 to 3:00
Join us for a 5 mile hike through rolling oak woodland hills to Fairy Falls, aka Beale Falls, aka Dry Creek Falls in Nevada County. The trail is wide and gentle, with about 500’ of elevation gain and loss. The trail goes 1.5 miles to a junction, then a 2 mile loop that follows the falls upstream. Along the way expect to see a wide variety of spring flowers, including Popcorn Flower, Woodland Star, Poppies, Blue Dicks, Fiddleneck, and hopefully many more.
Leader: email Steve Woodward, woodzos@comcast.net, for more information.
What to bring: ample water for 3 or 4 hours on the trail, hat, lunch, and weather protection. In a few locations there is a risk of exposure to poison oak-be on the lookout!
Amenities on-site: There are no restroom facilities at the site or along the trail, but we will stop for restrooms at Camp Far West North Campground, about 15 minutes from the trailhead. Waiver: sign upon arrival
We will depart from the meet up location promptly at 9.
Meet up location: Roseville Taylor Road Park-N-Ride, 1836 Taylor Road. Heading northeast on I-80 from Sacramento, take exit 105A, the Taylor Road/Eureka Road exit. Continue straight at the intersection on Taylor Road and turn left into the parking lot just past the Shell Station. We will meet at the southwest end of the parking lot, across from the Shell Station. From the Roseville meet-up it is about an hour drive to the trailhead, and detailed directions will be provided at the meet up. Note: the last 15 minutes are on a dirt and gravel road with several potholes, so slow and dusty going.
Parking info: there is no charge for parking at the meet up location or the trailhead.
