Summary

California’s digital online library of plant biodiversity is rapidly growing! Are you ready to learn about how Calflora and its volunteer contributor- based database seeks to maintain, serve, and improve this growing need in California? Well, buckle your seatbelts as Cynthia Powell will share with us exciting updates from Calflora – which is a separate nonprofit from CNPS. In this talk, Cynthia will take us behind the scenes at how the database aggregates plant observations from thousands of sources including iNaturalist and specimens from CCH. Calflora is where amateurs and professionals learn about California’s native and non-native wild plants, their distribution, rarity, current taxonomy, and perhaps their future. For most users, it is an irreplaceable resource for their work and interests.
