SUMMARY:Beeks Bight, Folsom SRA CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Waiver and Sign-up required.\nWith the return of Friday Walks are a few new Rules:\nYou MUST sign an Electronic Liability Waiver for Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks. This is a permanent change required by CNPS statewide. Note that this Waiver is for Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks only and does not cover Sacramento Valley CNPS Field Trips nor any Events or Field Trips offered by other CNPS Chapters. The only difference with the Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks Liability Waiver is that once signed it is valid through the end of the current calendar year.  Email John Schmidt to receive the Waiver form if you don’t yet have one for 2025.\nWalks held unless there is heavy rain, extreme heat or very poor air quality. Cancellation notices posted by 7 PM Thursday evening if the forecast is unfavorable.\nNote:   Beeks Bight is further away, hence the 9:30am meeting time.\nFriday, June 13 CANCELLED.\n\nThe road to Granite Bay Park Road to Beeks Bight is still closed.\nIt is possible the Beeks Bight parking area is under water.\nJoin us for our first Friday Walk at Beeks Bight in a few years. Paving the road to Beeks started April 29 so the actual opening date is not yet known.  We’ll follow a trail from the meeting area traversing across the hillside and up to the high point overlooking Folsom Lake.  More information will be available once the road is opened. The lake level might be too high to cross over to the Doton Point. A native plant bloom report will be added a few days before the walk. This is a great place to walk and see a diversity of plants and birds. Meet at the Beeks Bight parking area in Folsom Lake SRA. For more information, email ( mailto:john2waif@outlook.com?subject=Beeks-Bight ) John Schmidt or phone 916-500-8456.\nBring water, hat, snack, and layered protection. A walking stick might be useful.\nPark entrance fee is $12 or a current State Park Pass.\n Note the Senior Park Pass is not valid again until after Labor Day.\nUse the linked map ( https://goo.gl/maps/WsxpNVSXtB5cxDzCA ) (Red teardrop for parking area) or directions below.\nDirections from downtown Sacramento\n– I-80 East to Douglas East (exit 103A)\n– Continue east on Douglas to the Granite Bay entrance on Park Rd.\n– Pass the entrance kiosk. Self-register if no one is there.\n– Once in the park follow the signs to Beeks Bight.\n– We’ll meet in the Parking lot at the end of the road.\n-It’s about a 10-minute drive from the park entrance to Beeks Bight parking area.\nThere are restroom facilities at the meeting location.\nPlease try to be on time. We’ll start walking by 9:45am.\nThere is normally poor cell reception at the meeting area.\nClick here ( http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1049 ) for more info on state park passes.\nLimited Use State Park Pass information is near the bottom of the web page. This annual pass is useful on Friday Walks except during the summer.\nThe Gold District Field Office (7755 Folsom Auburn Rd.) of California State Parks is one location where you can purchase a Limited Use Golden Bear State Park Pass (62 and older). The $20 Limited Use State Park Pass is valid from January 1,2025 thru Thursday, May 25, 2025 and then from September 5 thru December 31,2025 for California State Parks.  Regular daily parking in these areas is $12/day in State Recreation Areas.  There should be 5 or more Friday Walks in Folsom and Auburn SRA including Friday’s walk at Beeks Bight before December 31, 2023.  If you’re 62 or older and new to Friday Walks, you can pick-up a Limited Use Golden Bear State Park Pass at the Folsom State Park Gold Field District Office (7755 Folsom Auburn Rd. which opens at 9:00am.\n \n \n
